LedgerMCP started from a simple observation: AI assistants got good enough to do bookkeeping, but no accounting software would let them. So we built the ledger they can actually use.
What we believe
Bookkeeping is necessary and nobody wants to do it. For decades the answer was either hours of your own time or hundreds of dollars a month for someone else's. AI assistants change that math; they are patient, fast, and cheap. What they need is software that treats them as real users, with real guardrails.
So LedgerMCP enforces correctness in the database itself. Entries must balance. Postings never change; every correction is a linked reversal. Every AI action is logged and reversible by you. The AI does the work; the ledger keeps it honest; you stay in charge.
What LedgerMCP is
A full double-entry accounting product: transactions register, journal, chart of accounts, bank feeds, reconciliation, receipts, tags, and reports. Plus an MCP server with 50 tools, so Claude, ChatGPT, or any MCP client can keep the books directly. It handles business books and personal finances in the same account.
The software is free. Live bank feeds are the paid tier. That is the whole model; no ads, and your data is never sold.
