Free software, honest structure
Most "free bookkeeping" falls into three buckets. Free trials that expire in 30 days. Free tiers capped at a few dozen transactions. Or free software that pays for itself by pushing payments, payroll, and loans.
Our structure is simpler. Software costs us little, so it is free. Bank connections cost us real money per account, so they are the paid tier. That is the entire business model; there is nothing else to find.
The part nobody else has
Free usually means you do all the work yourself. Here you can hand the work to Claude or ChatGPT: add LedgerMCP as a connector, drop in a bank statement, and your assistant imports, categorizes, and reconciles on a ledger that cannot go out of balance. You review its work in the web app; every action is logged and reversible.
If you never touch AI, the web app is a complete bookkeeping tool on its own. Spreadsheet-style register, inline categorization, and clean monochrome reports.

What costs money?
One thing: live bank feeds. If you want transactions pulled in automatically from your bank, plans start at $9 per month. Importing the same data by CSV is free.
Why is it free? What is the catch?
Bank feeds cost us money per connection, so they are the paid tier. Everything else costs us almost nothing to run, so we do not charge for it. No ads, and your data is never sold.
Is this real double-entry bookkeeping?
Yes. Every transaction posts a balanced journal entry. You get a real trial balance, P&L, and balance sheet your accountant can work from.
How is this different from Wave?
