When a calculator is not enough
Every tool here ends at the same place: the quality of your inputs. Net profit, vendor totals, and account counts all come from books. The guides go deeper: quarterly estimated taxes, 1099 preparation, and what AI bookkeeping costs. And the books themselves are the product: free, double-entry, kept by the AI you already use.
Common questions
Are these tools really free?
Yes, free and no sign-up. They run entirely in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere or stored. They exist because the same questions come up in every bookkeeping conversation, and a calculator answers faster than prose.
Are the tax figures current?
The calculators use 2026 federal figures as of August 2026: the 15.3% self-employment rate with the $184,500 Social Security wage base, and the post-2025-tax-law 1099 thresholds ($2,000 for 1099-NEC, $20,000 and 200 transactions for 1099-K). They are estimates and general information, not tax advice.
Where do the numbers in the cost calculator come from?
Competitor figures are entry-tier list prices, re-verified periodically (last July 2026) and cited on the page. LedgerMCP figures are simply our pricing: free software, bank feeds from $9 per month pooled across all books.
